Dr. Kate Oliver, DVM

Dr. Oliver is a 1998 Graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and proud owner of "Oscar"(Orange Tabby Cat), "Kiko"(White/grey Tabby Cat), "TinkerBell", and "Burnadebt" (German Shorthair Pointer).

Tara Maxson, LVT

Tara Maxson is a 1999 graduate of Texas A&M University with a BS in Biomedical Science. She received her Registered Vet Technician Certification in 2001 from Tomball College. Tara is the hospital director, with more than sixteen years experience in veterinary medicine, including over four years in emergency medicine.

In 2014, she founded the Austin Veterinary Practice Manager Group, and is co-chair of the Advisory Commitee for Austin Community College's Veterinary Technology Program. Her interests in veterinary medicine include critical care, anesthesia, and feline friendly handling. In her spare time she enjoys working on creative projects and traveling. Tara is the proud owner of 2 kitties,  "Jax" and "Susie Bruiser".


Dr. Markay Nyquist, DVM

Dr. Nyquist graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Prior to attending veterinary school she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Texas and worked as a veterinary technician and laboratory research assistant. She grew up on the Oregon coast and moved to Texas in 2006.

Dr. Nyquist's special interests include feline internal medicine, dentistry, radiology, and surgery.

Dr. Nyquist has four cats; Milo, Zoe, Nala and Adora, and two dogs; Riley and Layla. In her time off, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, bike riding, yoga, trying new foods, cooking and relaxing with her husband Brian, family and friends.


Dr. Melena McClure

Dr. Melena McClure earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. Matthew's University in 2014. Dr. McClure completed her clinical training for her veterinary degree at the University of Georgia in 2013-2014. Dr. McClure also holds a Master of Business Administration from Davenport University which she completed concurrent with veterinary school, and graduated with a Master of Science in Nutrition from Texas A&M University in 2008. At Texas A&M, Dr. McClure performed research in the field of feline nutrition. Before coming to Oliver Animal Hospital, Dr. McClure worked for 2 years as an emergency veterinarian in San Antonio and New Braunfels. Dr. McClure shares her home with her husband and 2 Snowshoe cats Dr. Bunsen Honeydew & his assistant Beaker. Dr. McClure's extended cat family include Diablita aka Lady Chubbykins who is helping her sister train to be a nurse, as well as Mora and Quill who spend their time napping and bird watching at her parent's house. In her free time, Dr. McClure enjoys hiking, biking, traveling and is excited to be a part of the Oliver Animal Hospital team.
